How to Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC) in Windows Server 2012

Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC) is a security measure which helps to lessen the exposure of a server to potential attacks from malicious web contents. By default, in Windows Server 2012, IE ESC is enabled for both Administrators and Users group.

To disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC) in Windows Server 2012, please follow the steps below:

  1. Launch Server Manager from the Taskbar.
  1. In the Server Manager Dashboard, select Local Server.

  1. On the Properties tab, beside IE Enhanced Security Configuration, click On (as shown in 2 above).
  2. To disable the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC) for both Administrators and Users, select Off and click Ok.

Please note that, for the changes to reflect, you might need to refresh the Server Manager from the top right bar. Also close Internet Explorer and relaunch, for the changes to take effect.
